Biography
Megan Rubio is recognized as a leader in community engagement and student-driven advocacy at Boise State. Throughout her time at Boise State, she has intentionally connected her academic work with meaningful service, focusing on expanding access to resources and strengthening support systems for marginalized and underserved populations.
Rubio has distinguished herself through both academic excellence and hands-on learning. She maintained a 4.0 GPA while completing her degree in three years, consistently taking rigorous, overloaded upper-level credits and earning Highest Honors on the Dean’s List every semester. As a social work intern with the Living Independence Network Corporation, she completed extensive fieldwork supporting individuals with disabilities, working one-on-one with consumers to help build independent living skills and navigate complex systems. She also developed a comprehensive statewide resource guide covering needs such as housing, food, utilities and more, which has been distributed to various organizations and professionals across Idaho.
Rubio founded and served as president of the Boise State Chapter of Generation Action in collaboration with Planned Parenthood. After establishing the organization from the ground up, she recruited and led more than 70 student members while organizing service projects, educational events and advocacy initiatives focused on reproductive health, public health and community education. Under her leadership, the organization has coordinated volunteer efforts for the Idaho Women’s March, organized menstrual and safe-sex kit distribution projects, led a clothing drive benefiting Interfaith Sanctuary and supported resource fairs for individuals experiencing homelessness. She has also facilitated educational programming and advocacy trainings, empowering students to engage confidently in public policy and community service.
Rubio is from McCall, Idaho.
