• March 13: Finalists and funding decisions are announced

Eligibility and Use of Funds

The Student Philanthropy Board grant program is open to registered Boise State student organizations, individuals, faculty or staff who are leading philanthropic projects or initiatives that directly benefit the university community and its students. To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be part of a registered Boise State student organization.
• Students applying outside of a recognized organization must secure sponsorship from an on-campus academic or student affairs department, with at least two signatures: one from a department chair or director and one from a financial or administrative staff member.
• Grant funds must be used within one year of receipt. If the money is not spent within one year, recipients may request an extension through an appeal to the Student Philanthropy Board Grant Committee.
• Recipients are not eligible to apply for another Student Philanthropy Board grant for two years after receiving an award.
• Organizations or initiatives affiliated with the Student Philanthropy Board may apply; however, any committee members with a conflict of interest must recuse themselves from the review and decision-making process.

Funding and Decision Process

The Student Philanthropy Board reviews applications and allocates funding each spring semester. Applicants should be aware of the following:

• A total of $25,000 in grant funding is available each year.
• Applicants may request up to $25,000; final award amounts are determined at the discretion of the board.
• After the application deadline, the SPB narrows the field to qualified finalists. Finalists present their proposals to the board to explain their plan and intended use of funds. These presentations inform the final funding decisions.
• An end-of-grant report is required one year after funds are awarded. The report demonstrates the impact of the project and provides examples of what the grant funding enabled the organization or individual to accomplish.
