Reading the Republic

An IAAV Initiative for America at 250

IAAV is participating in the A250 efforts happening across the State of Idaho this year.  As part of that effort, IAAV has developed a public-facing course, Reading the Republic.

Reading the Republic invites participants to engage with the documents that shaped America’s founding. Through guided readings and conversations, participants are encouraged to reflect on these historical texts and explore their meaning in dialogue with others.

To learn more about the America at 250 initiative and explore additional opportunities for engagement, visit the A250 webpage.

How to participate

  1. Access the Pressbook: America’s Founding Moment: Selected Readings from 1775-1799.
  2. Choose a Document: Select any document from the collection.

  4. Engage in Dialogue: Invite two people, friends, family members, or colleagues, to read the same document and discussion questions.
  5. Share your Reflection: Participants are invited to record a short video reflection highlighting what they learned from the reading and conversations. Links to submit reflections are available within the pressbook.
