Headshot of Sasha Barrett

Assistant Teaching Professor, Ceramics

MFA, University of Montana

Sasha Barrett was born and raised in Sumy, Ukraine, where he spent half of his childhood. He has been a resident artist at various clay studios across the country, as well as completing his MFA from the University of Montana in 2025. Sasha’s artwork reflects on his experience and the stories of his friends and family in war-torn Ukraine. While primarily working with clay Sasha has broadened his studio practice to include metalsmithing, documentary film making, and photography. His work has been on display in numerous exhibitions nationwide, like the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art and Montana Museum of Art and Culture. He was a recipient of the Ceramics Monthly Emerging Artist Award, Alexa Rose Artist Grant, and most recently received the Bertha Mortan Scholarship. Currently Sasha is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Ceramics at Boise State University. When not in the studio Sasha pretends to be a professional chef.
