Seminar Title: Upon Which Selection Can Act: Quantifying Intra- and Interspecific Variation in The Rate and Spectra of Spontaneous Mutations
Sarah Schaack is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Reed College. Her research looks at:
- Spontaneous Mutations – Especially mutation rates, factors influencing those rates, and the phenotypic effects of mutation.
- Mobile DNA – Specifically the movement and proliferation of transposable elements and endogenous viruses.
- Genome Evolution – With an emphasis on horizontal and mito-nuclear in-/compatibility.
