Boise State University student Noah Souza earned third place in the Lynn Joens Award competition at the Conference of Research Workers in Animal Diseases (CRWAD) 2026, recently held in Chicago, Illinois.
Souza’s poster was recognized by NC1202: Enteric Diseases of Food Animals, a USDA-supported multistate research group that honors outstanding research in enteric diseases, food safety, and host–pathogen interactions. Out of approximately 190 posters presented at CRWAD, only 11 posters received awards, with just two recognized in the NC1202 category—making this achievement especially competitive.
The Conference of Research Workers in Animal Diseases is an internationally respected meeting with a history spanning more than 100 years, featuring over 500 research presentations focused on animal health, population health, and translational medicine.

Souza’s award-winning poster, titled “Multi-omics analysis of Salmonella ArtAB toxin to determine its role in host–pathogen interactions,” highlights advanced, interdisciplinary research addressing critical questions in infectious disease biology.
Congratulations to Noah on this outstanding accomplishment and for representing Boise State University on an international research stage!
