Optional and required COVID testing

Boise State has expanded testing options and requirements around the upcoming breaks, when people traditionally gather with friends and family. Although public health authorities have recommended that people forgo holiday gatherings, we recognize many individuals will still choose to gather, and others will travel over the break. In an effort to ensure that members of our campus community are not unknowingly putting others at risk, the university is offering appointment-based testing.
Pre-fall break testing
This testing is voluntary and is offered to students and employees at no cost, subject to availability. Appointments are available now through the end of Monday, Nov. 23.
Post-fall break testing
This is required for all members of the campus community who return to campus for any reason after the fall break. Testing will be conducted Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 30-Dec. 2 and again Dec. 7-9.
Pre- and post- winter break testing
While pre-testing is optional, all members of the campus community returning to campus for spring term will be required to test before returning to campus. Please watch the COVID Testing Center website for more information.
Symptomatic testing
Any member of the campus community who is experiencing mild COVID symptoms and needs to be tested but does not need to see a provider, should schedule an appointment with the COVID Testing Center. University Health Services (UHS) is no longer testing for COVID unless patients wish to see a provider.
Registration for testing is required. Members of the campus community are not currently required to pay for testing, though the university soon will begin billing insurance. Schedule an appointment.
Please visit the COVID Testing Center for additional information, including updated guidance for travel during the fall and winter breaks.
