½ cup garbanzo beans
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
Splash of lemon juice (about 1 lemon wedge)
Sprinkle of cayenne powder
- If using canned garbanzo beans, drain off liquid. (Liquid can be reserved and used as an egg substitute.)
- Place all ingredients in a sandwich bag and press until a paste-like consistency forms. You can also add additional ingredients for different flavors such as red peppers, pesto, more garlic, etc. You can also place ingredients in a bowl and press using a fork, or use a blender or food processor and pulse, until desired consistency.
- Serve with vegetables, pita chips, or pretzels.
