Although the Hometown Challenge thrives on students creating their own opportunities, we are pleased to provide project opportunities with Boise State departments that have identified ways you can use your education to make a local impact. Below are the currently available projects. Please note that there are limited number of positions available.

Sustainability Club Community Garden

Student watering plants in the Community Garden Campus Sustainability partners with the Sustainability Club to oversee the club’s community garden through the summer. With this Campus Sustainability sponsored Hometown Challenge, you will have the opportunity to help maintain the garden, harvest the produce, and work to connect the garden crops with students and community partners. This is a great opportunity for students who are self-driven, passionate about gardening and local food, and that are looking to add their own spin on potential projects to meet different needs in the garden space.

CapEd Credit Union Financial Literacy/Money Management

CapEd Credit Union is happy to offer two $1,000 Hometown Challenge scholarships for financial literacy/money management. You have the opportunity to promote a campus culture of financial awareness and understanding while encouraging healthy decision-making behavior among your peers. Apply your leadership and problem-solving skills to design and implement a project that builds confidence by encouraging others to be financially responsible. Identify and overcome the obstacles of successful money management for yourself and others. Can you rise to the challenge?
