Warner Recognized by ACS

Don Warner stands with two women, holding the ACS ChemLuminary Award

Don Warner received an ACS ChemLuminary award during the American Chemical Society Fall 2026 Meeting in Chicago last month.

The award, for Outstanding Project SEED Program (Small Site), was won by the ACS Snake River Local Section, and presented to Dr. Don Warner, the site coordinator, for the section’s work with SEED students in 2025. All 2025 participants presented their research at the Idaho Conference on Undergraduate Research, and six presented at the ACS Fall 2025 meeting in Washington D.C.

Project SEED is a program that helps economically disadvantaged high school students realize their potential and pursue a college education. To achieve this goal, students receive a fellowship award and are placed into an academic laboratory for 10 weeks during the summer. The students work with scientists who help them develop laboratory and communication (both written and oral) skills, with mentors providing individual guidance and letters of recommendation for college.

Congratulations to Dr. Warner! This award is well deserved, and the work he puts in with these students, guiding the next generation of researchers, is inspiring!
