Diversity & Inclusion
To the Boise State University Chemistry & Biochemistry Community,
A lot has happened since we were last together in our university labs and classrooms. The recent violence against Ahmaud Arbery, Christian Cooper, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and so many others, resulting in the subsequent protests, act as a reminder of how much work is still needed to achieve a just and equal country for all people regardless of the color of their skin, their identity, or both. This ongoing epidemic of racial injustice and inequality has not gone unrecognized by our department faculty and staff. We in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Boise State University recognize that racism is systemic and the field of chemistry does not exist outside that system. Our field has a long journey to support and include Black scientists, but we will do everything in our power to elevate their voices in science and to create spaces for Black students to flourish. The Boise State University Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry stands with our Black students, faculty, and staff at the university and nationwide in the pursuit of justice and equality. We are committed to supporting and promoting change to amplify diversity and inclusion within our department, college, university, and nation.
