What I wish I had known when I was a student:

I wish I had known about the available options and resources for navigating difficult situations. I regret not knowing that I had options to prevent losing my scholarship. When I struggled in a math class, I thought the outcome was final. In reality, a few simple conversations could have opened up options to help me maintain my funding.

What I wish I had known when I was a student:

I wish I knew that faculty and advisors want to collaborate to help me make the most of my college experience. I thought I had to figure it out on my own and know exactly what I wanted to accomplish.

What I wish I had known when I was a student:

I wish I had known that it’s normal to feel overwhelmed and unsure. As a commuter student, I thought that I had to figure everything out by myself. I thought that my friends who lived on or near campus had it figured out and must be having the dream college experience. I wish I had known that every college student is figuring things out as they go, and that there are so many resources and people on campus who want to help you through your journey.

What I wish I had known when I was a student:

Relationships matter — get to know and learn from your peers, professors, TAs, and campus staff. Build your constellation of mentors who support you and challenge you to grow.
