Porter named national finalist for prestigious award in choral conducting

The American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts recently named C. Michael Porter, professor and director of choral activities at Boise State University, a national finalist for the 2022 Dale Warland Award in Choral Conducting. The American Prize, the nation’s most comprehensive series of non-profit competitions in the performing arts, has recognized and rewarded the best performing artists, ensembles, conductors, composers and directors since 2010.

The American Prize Dale Warland Award in Choral Conducting celebrates the artistry of one of the greatest choral conductors of his generation. Warland has made an indelible impression on contemporary choral music for over 25 years, nationally and internationally, with the professional a cappella ensemble, the Dale Warland Singers, known for its exquisite sound, technical finesse and stylistic range.

The prize awarded Warland the National Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement on July 4, 2021 to honor his legacy.
