Poet and translator Patricio Ferrari to read at Boise State

The Boise State Creative Writing Program presents poet, polyglot literary translator, and editor Patricio Ferrari on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building, Alexander Room. Ferrari will also present master classes on poetry translation to MFA students.

Ferrari left Argentina at 16 to play soccer and study in the U.S. He received a master’s degree in Comparative Literature from the Sorbonne-Nouvelle, an MFA in Poetry from Brown University, and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Lisbon.

His most recent editions and translations include The Galloping Hour: French Poems by Alejandra Pizarnik (with Forrest Gander; New Directions, 2018) and The Complete Works of Alberto Caeiro by Fernando Pessoa (with Margaret Jull-Costa; New Directions, 2020). “Mutter Buenos Aires,” the first volume of his multilingual poetry trilogy (“Elsehere”) is forthcoming in 2023.

Ferrari resides in New York City and teaches at Rutgers University. He also has an ongoing collaboration with the Endangered Language Alliance, a non-profit organization in the city focused on linguistic diversity within urban areas worldwide.
