Accountancy Scholarships

The Department of Accountancy, along with local businesses, awards more than $80,000 in scholarships to accounting majors every year. To be considered for accountancy scholarships you must complete Boise State University’s scholarship application by the spring deadline. A scholarship committee will review the applications in April. Don’t assume that you won’t qualify for a scholarship. If you meet the minimum requirements, submit an application!

The College of Business and Economics also awards scholarships each year. You can apply for both department and college-level scholarships by completing the same application. If you have questions about accountancy scholarships, please contact our department’s committee member, Dr. Matthew Stallings. You can reach him at matthewstallings@boisestate.edu.

Who may apply:

  • All full-time graduate and undergraduate accounting majors (undergraduate = 12 credits or more, graduate = 9 credits or more).
  • The committee gives preference to students who will be juniors or seniors for the coming school year and have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • For department level awards, applicants must have been admitted to COBE and declared Accountancy as their major by the application deadline.
  • You will be notified of any awards by email in mid-to-late April. Check your myBoiseState student account for awards.
  • Some scholarships are awarded based on financial need. For need-based scholarships, you must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

When to apply:

If you have already been admitted to COBE, and have declared Accountancy as your major, and want to be considered for Department of Accountancy scholarships, you must complete the Department of Accountancy Scholarships Application and provide the following when prompted:

  1. A copy of your current resume. This resume should be one page in length and include, at a minimum, a brief record of employment (including employer name, location, dates, and the nature of your duties), memberships in relevant school/professional organizations (including organization’s name, dates, and your role, such as member, president, etc.), and involvement in outside activities (including group’s name, dates, and your role).
  2. If you are a graduate student with a non-Boise State undergraduate degree, an unofficial transcript from your undergraduate institution.

Please upload these documents as a single PDF file (8 MB max file size), using your name and Boise State student ID number as the filename. Do not use any special characters in the file name. You should also include your full name and Boise State student ID number on the header of each page.
