Gundars (Gundy) Kaupins is a Professor of Management at Boise State University. He has a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the University of Iowa and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).

As department chair for eight years, the department created the Nonprofit Management Minor, formally named and revised the Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship Management majors, and made significant changes to the General Business Major.

His work includes about ninety articles on job evaluation, training and development, Baltic studies, location monitoring, and human resource ethics in journals such as the Academy of Management Perspectives, International Journal of Technology and Human Interaction, Journal of Information Privacy and Security, Journal of Management Education, and International Journal of Wireless and Broadband Technologies.

Books include Design Thinking and Strategy (with Christy Suciu), Business Aha! Tips on Ethics for Managers, Business Aha! Tips on Creativity (with Nancy Napier), and Human Resource Management Study Games: Certification Prep and Refresher.

Some other works include SHRM whitepapers, eight years of radio programs, eighteen book chapters, a monthly Idaho Statesman column, and about 250 book reviews for Choice Magazine.

He has been a writer for the SHRM Assurance of Learning, Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and SHRM Certification Professional and Senior Certification Professional exams. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Human Resource Association of Treasure Valley which is the local professional branch of SHRM.

He has taught Human Resource Management (online and live), Employee and Labor Relations, and Compensation and Benefits. He has supervised over 800 internships and has written about 750 employee handbooks together with his human resource management students.

He was a board member of the Idaho Nonprofit Center and Aquability.
