Text Transcript: Should you major in Entrepreneurship

Lainey: I love how interactive this program is. You get to pitch ideas, you get to create new things, and you get to collaborate with people who actually want to create things with you as well.

Lainey: Entrepreneurship at Boyisee State is learning how to build and grow your business from the ground up. It’s not necessarily just studying business, but we get to create products, we get to test ideas, and we get to learn how to solve real world problems.

A lot of people think entrepreneurship is just for people who want to start a company. In reality, entrepreneurship is a lot more resourceful than that. It teaches you how to be resourceful, how to interact with others, how to lead, and how to think outside the box. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to do. You can build that along the way.

Most people who graduate with an entrepreneurship degree end up in any leadership position because this major really teaches you how to be a leader.

I currently work as a personal trainer and after I graduate I would like to start my own fitness related company. This major has definitely given me the skills and confidence to do so after I graduate.

An idea and $15 changed his life

Although Eric Torres-Garcia was an international business major, his entrepreneurship classes helped him launch Cocoa Bombs. And, he turned to entrepreneurship professor Kent Neupert for help when he had 1,000 orders for Cocoa Bombs having only ever made just one. Neupert guided Eric to getting an attorney, filing for a trademark and registering the company. Read Eric’s amazing story and watch “Eric Torres-Garcia: From Boise State Student to Chocolatier.

“I owe Dr. Neupert a lot, and Boise State…. None of this would have been possible had I not been at Boise State.”
