Allen Dykman

Allen Dykman

Allen Dykman and his wife Dixie founded Dykman Electrical, Inc., selling motors out of their home garage. Since then, the company has become one of North America’s largest suppliers of motors and electrical solutions, with presence in ten U.S. states, as well as a sales and distribution network that spans the globe. Although sales, inventory and personnel have increased dramatically over the years, the same principles of superior customer service, flexibility and integrity on which Allen founded the business, are still the driving force behind its success today.

In addition to his success in business, Allen is also an avid philanthropist and community leader. He has served on the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl executive committee, was president of the Boise State University Alumni Association and Bronco Athletic Association boards, chairman of the Boise State Foundation board, co-chair of the Destination Distinction Campaign steering committee, as well as a member of the Boise State University President’s board of advisors.

Allen and Dixie are strong supporters of higher education, and their long history of generous giving has been instrumental in developments across the Boise State campus, such as the Dykman Financial Trading Room in the Micron Business and Economics Building and the creation of the new Alumni and Friends Center. Beyond their support of Boise State, the Dykmans have created scholarships at each of Idaho’s public four-year universities, and continue to make higher education more accessible at Boise State and beyond.

Allen received an honorary doctoral degree in 2012 from Boise State, as well as the 2002 Silver Medallion Award, 2001 Distinguished Alumni Award and 2000 Bronco Athletic Association Bronze Bronco Award.
