We’re spending the last days of 2022 celebrating our best research accomplishments of the year! Graduate student Scott Riley shares his best accomplishment below:

“This year I presented research conducted on the stabilization mechanism of HTIR-TCs EMF signal at MS&T 2022. The stabilization of the EMF signal was found to be dependent upon the formation of an interaction region between the Nb-P thermoelement and the alumina insulation.”

Scott Riley's research conducted on the stabilization mechanism of HTIR-TCs EMF signal at MS&T 2022
A) The EMF signal did not vary with increasing stabilization heat treatment temperature. In addition, after undergoing the stabilization heat treatment prolonged exposure to temperatures below the stabilization heat treatment temperature did not impact the EMF signal. B) During the stabilization heat treatment an interaction region is developed between the interface of the Nb-P thermoelement and the alumina insulation.
