Seminar October 12: Electric Propulsion and the Future of Spaceflight
October 12 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Join us for seminar on Wednesday, October 12! Carl Barcroft is scheduled to present about electric propulsion and the future of spaceflight. Participate in person at the Micron Engineering Center, room 114 or join us on Zoom.
The space industry has seen a boom in the past few years and Busek’s work in developing next generation electric propulsion systems is helping enable a new generation of small satellite systems as well as advancing science and human spaceflight with the larger spacecraft systems. This talk will go over the technology that is shaping the future of spaceflight and electric propulsion. Topics will include thruster technology, advancements in fuel sources, miniaturization and advancements in precision. Space propulsion and satellite systems are an exciting aspect of the engineering world and this presentation will help illustrate just that!
Mr. Barcroft is a BSU alumni and an electrical engineer at Busek, Co. Inc. in Natick, Massachusetts. For the past 6 years, he has assisted in the development and production of the compact BIT-3 RF ion thruster’s Power Processing Unit (PPU). His other current work includes a 40kV power supply for heliophysics missions, digital control hardware for a 10kW discharge converter for Hall Thrusters, and hardware development for the SOUL robotic spacecraft.
