Student Advisory Board

A Voice for Students

Meet your 2025-2026 SAB

The Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering program is dedicated to the success of our students. To that end, we actively solicit input from students on areas of curriculum, facilities, academic support, equipment, teaching, and more!

Our Student Advisory Board is an elected body to represent YOUR thoughts to the department administration.

I am a part of the Student Advisory Board to help the students have a voice about where they want their money to go. I want to be able to provide a way for all students to be able to gain access to the change they want to see on campus, and be able to advocate for what should be done for the students. Whether that be helping provide more learning opportunities or helping the students have access to the materials they need. I want to be able to be someone that the students can approach with their ideas.

I like to help and build the culture of the College of engineering and support the students. It is very important for students to get hands-on learning opportunities and so I would like to work towards every student having the opportunity to professionally develop themselves in real world skills.

I’m a part of the Student Advisory Board because I’m passionate about improving systems—whether mechanical or organizational. Through roles like Community Assistant for the Living Learning Program and COEN Ambassador, I’ve worked to support student success and engagement. I plan to use insights from current students and relationships from past positions to enhance the SAB and help create a more fulfilling experience for engineering students.

My goal is to make clubs and other organizations more accessible to students. These groups provide experience and skills that make students more valuable job candidates and help them get the careers they want. Clubs also provide connections with other students and faculty that make college a more meaningful experience, as well as provide networking opportunities that can be essential in the future. I want to make sure that every student has the opportunity to get connected.

The goal of my service on the Student Advisory Board is to amplify the voices of underrepresented students. I hope to achieve this through student outreach, connecting their requests with existing campus opportunities, as well as advocating for diverse, inclusive, and accessible extracurricular activities. Additionally, I hope to integrate more Service Learning courses into the curriculum to help students build a strong professional profile while being full-time students.

The Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering department at BSU is constantly evolving and changing to better suit the times. And with these changes, it is important that we as students going through these courses, have a say in what we need to be successful engineers. With my position on the SAB board, I am looking forward to being the voice of those who may feel unheard and to helping foster the best learning environment possible.

I joined the Student Advisory Board because I want to help shape the College of Engineering into a place where every student can gain the real-world, hands-on experience that makes them stronger engineers. My biggest goal is to ensure that students have access to the resources they need. Whether that’s fabrication, machining, or other forms of manufacturing, so that they can practice their skills beyond the classroom. By emphasizing design for manufacturing and applied learning, I hope to prepare students with the technical and professional skills that are most valuable in the workforce, while building a stronger engineering community at Boise State.

I am passionate about being part of SAB because, as a senior in the Mechanical Engineering Department for the past three years, I have gained valuable insights into what it means to be both an engineer and a dedicated student. My experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the department. Having played a key role in nearly building the BSU Baja Racing Team from the ground up, I’ve developed hands-on skills and practical knowledge that I’m eager to share. I believe I have many ideas that can help shape and improve the department, empowering future generations of mechanical engineering students to become exceptional engineers.

I wanted to join the Student Advisory Board because I’ve seen how challenging it can be for student clubs to grow without strong support from the school. Through my experience co leading the Baja Racing Team, I learned how valuable resources and guidance are for helping students succeed. My goal is to make sure all student groups feel supported and have the opportunities to thrive, just as I’ve been able to through my own involvement.
