Bob Casper has taught the upper division Web-Design course for the Communication Department and currently teaches the Multimedia Storytelling course. He has also led instruction as a Discussion Group Leader over several semesters of the Science Fiction-themed UF100 course previously offered by University Foundations.
Having been at Boise State for over a decade, Bob currently serves as an Instructional Design Consultant for the Instructional Design and Educational Assessment (IDEA) Shop. The IDEA Shop consists of a team of Instructional Designers that deliver professional development to faculty on Boise State University’s campus. Mainly focusing on OER (Open Educational Resources), Bob has been asked to speak and present on open pedagogy at various regional, national and international conferences, he also assists in Mobile Learning Technologies and Accessibility/Universal Design for Learning. He co-serves as one of two Instructional Designers assigned to the English Department, as well as, principle consultant to the Communication Department and the University Foundations. Some of Bob’s achievements while at Boise State University include a comprehensive accessibility audit for the online RN-BS Completion program in the Nursing Department, as well as, student and instructor training guides for Service Learning’s Peer Recruitment Program.
Before coming to Boise State University, Bob’s experiences consisted of research, creative, and business roles in the computer industry (DELL and HP) and the film/TV industry (Disney, FOX, Paramount and Warner Bros. – among others). From ‘Onset’ experiences that include working behind and in front of the camera in Hollywood, to the production offices at some of the largest studios that dot the landscape of Southern California — Bob has a valuable perspective to share. He received his undergraduate degree from California State University–Northridge in Radio/TV-Film, with an emphasis in Multimedia Management. A graduate of OPWL (Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning) at Boise State University, his master’s degree in Instructional and Performance Technology focused on online learning, instructional design, and aspects of Universal Design for Learning.
His personal interests include spending time with the ones he loves, as the coach for his daughter’s soccer team to guided fishing tours with his father. When at home he can be found grilling or gardening with his wife, daughter and their extended family. Ask anyone who knows and they will tell you that a description of Bob would not be complete without mentioning his enthusiasm for film and all things Disney.
