Data Analytics Applied – A Commercial Aviation Services Perspective
This seminar will not be recorded so be sure to join us in person!
Thanh Hoang is a Senior Computing Architect and an Associate Technical Fellow at Boeing Information Technology and Data Analytics (IT&DA). His work focuses on system architecture, application design, and implementation of data warehouses and big data engineering systems, supporting advanced analytics across multiple business domains. He is currently a lead architect on flight sensor data systems used by data scientists to conduct research and development on airplane health management, predictive maintenance, digital twins, and autonomy. Thanh was granted five US patents. He is a member of several technical data standards committees at Airlines for America (formerly ATA – Air Transport Association of America). He graduated with a MS degree in Mathematics from the University of Washington.
Airplane health management and predictive maintenance have been in place for many years and have been very successful across the industry on various platforms. With the emergence of big data technologies, cloud computing, and ever-increasing flight data volume from modern aircraft, data scientists can now apply advanced analytics methods to gain greater insights into airplane operations and help solve performance issues by predicting failures, thereby increasing reliability. This talk focuses on the capabilities of cloud data analytics, as well as development processes and techniques, applied to flight sensor data in commercial aviation services.
