Mechanical Engineering<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-biography\">Biography<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:23px\">I have previously developed a <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.jbiomech.2019.03.010\">computational model to predict joint mechanics in the implanted knee<\/a>, and my PhD work is supported through the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program. I am developing a computational framework with the potential to transform how clinicians make patient-specific diagnosis and treatment decisions about osteoarthritis (OA). Critical milestones include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expanding and incorporating automated image segmentation algorithms into a pipeline which will allow us to automate production of patient-specific finite element (FE) models of the arthritic knee using only magnetic resonance (MR) images as inputs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using that pipeline to produce a training set of knee models, I will develop FE independent statistical models that can instantaneously predict output joint mechanics in the degrading knee joint to provide meaningful feedback in the clinical setting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of a graphical user interface with feedback from current medical students in Idaho, which will enable the proactive evaluation of OA treatment options on a patient-specific basis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:23px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:23px\"><a class=\"\" href=\"mailto:KalinGibbons@u.boisestate.edu\">KalinGibbons@u.boisestate.edu<\/a> <br><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/coen-mbe\/directory\/clare-fitzpatrick\/\">Advisor: Dr. Clare Fitzpatrick<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Education Emphasis in Data ScienceB.S.
