The Boise State Department of Mathematics offers free math tutoring services for all Boise State students enrolled in a math course, including Boise State Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) students.
Math tutoring, offered through the department’s Math Learning Center, provides in-person and virtual appointments for students. Tutoring services are offered for all Boise State CEP math courses, including College Algebra (MATH 143), Precalculus II: Trigonometry (MATH 144), Survey of Calculus (MATH 160) and Calculus I (MATH 170).
Math tutors consist of Boise State undergraduate and graduate students, giving CEP students the chance to ask questions and get more insight on the college experience.
“One of the biggest benefits of tutoring in general, in my opinion, is getting to hear a concept explained from a different point of view,” Boise State Clinical Assistant Professor and CEP mathematics faculty liaison Josie Derrick said. “The tutors have all learned how to do math in a way that makes sense to them, and may have a different way of explaining topics that helps something ‘click’ that you’ve been struggling with!
“Being able to make appointments online is a great opportunity to get help wherever you are located, so you don’t have to commute or get a ride, but there’s something nice about talking in-person too.”
