The Grand Challenges

The Vice President for Research and Provost put out a call to the campus community for Grand Challenge concept papers. Campus responded in force and from a multitude of ideas put forward, four themes arose as umbrella concepts. From those high-level themes, the first to move forward is the Resource Nexus for Sustainability.

1. Resource Nexus for Sustainability

The Resource Nexus for Sustainability Grand Challenge will lead the way towards sustainable communities and resources in the face of disruption. With an integrative approach to catalyze a nexus of scholars, we will study the interactions between the built and natural environment through the lens of our disciplines and our stakeholders to build more resilient urban and rural systems.
