Course Design Institute

This May, the CTL will again offer our annual Course Design Institute (CDI), a week-long program that guides participants through the process of developing effective, inclusive courses. Instructors who are new to course design, and those that have participated in previous CDIs, are invited to apply to join our modified, virtual event that will focus on the role of course design in the overall act of teaching. Participants will write learning outcomes, develop assessments that are transparent and provide students with multiple means of expression, and plan activities that will support all students in their learning. By the end of the week, participants will have substantial work completed towards a new or revised course design.

This year’s CDI will be held May 24-28th and will be all/mostly virtual. Participants who are experienced in course design may choose to do a half-day version, while those newer to the topics covered in CDI will want to apply for the full-day version.

“I found the CDI to be highly valuable in giving me the ideas and tools to become a more engaging and effective teacher.”
