This is an opportunity for faculty from all disciplines to connect their course to global topics and expose students to local solutions and community networks. The conference goal is community building in refugee resettlement to find inspiration and learn about best practices and innovation in the field. As part of The City of Boise\u2019s certified Welcoming City, the Boise State community has an opportunity to reflect on the city\u2019s long-standing work to help immigrants and refugees become community members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are a few <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/14x9xaPrDml3Fqf26siJvGZD1J8B6JDhbtXr2gFGymEo\/edit?usp=sharing\">highlighted conference workshops<\/a> that could connect with your course and to students\u2019 interests:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Refugee 101<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Panel of college students who arrived as refugees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teaching multilingual learners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And many first-person stories of inspiration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-think-your-course-has-nothing-to-do-with-refugees\">Think your course has nothing to do with refugees?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unhcr.org\/sustainable-development-goals.html\">United Nations Sustainable Development Goals<\/a> list the refugee crisis as a global sustainability challenge requiring the work of experts across a wide range of disciplines. The refugee experience is precisely the type of global challenge with local implications we are called upon to bring into our classrooms at Boise State.
