Dr. Andrew Gase, Assistant Professor in the Department of Geosciences, has been awarded a National Science Foundation grant to launch the Forensic Geoscience Hub (ForGe) at Boise State. This new program will help law enforcement agencies across Idaho search for the remains of missing persons using specialized scientific tools that look into the ground without digging.
ForGe builds on Boise State’s past work to assist law-enforcement agencies like the Idaho State Police and Ada County Sheriff’s Office. The project will provide students with hands-on training in data collection and analysis while working with detectives and forensics specialists to search for clues in cold cases with the goal of bringing closure to families of missing persons.
