Financial Aid

Our department is focused on developing close relationships between the faculty and students which serves to foster the professional development of our graduate students. The Department of Geosciences awards several undergraduate scholarships every year, some based on need and some on achievement.

Undergraduate Funding

Continuing undergraduate students will receive an e-mail announcement in early Spring with scholarship application materials.  New applicants to Boise State who plan to major in geosciences can contact Dr. Karen Viskupic at (208) 426-3658 or email karenviskupic@boisestate.edu for application materials.

Please refer to the Boise State Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for additional information and funding opportunities.

Graduate Funding

Please visit the Graduate College for a wide variety of financial aid.

Funding opportunities include graduate assistantships (including a stipend and a waiver of fees). In addition to the departmental graduate teaching assistantships, the University has recently invested additional funding to support doctoral students. Assistantships – either teaching or research – are automatically considered at the time admissions decisions are made, and no additional application is necessary.  Admissions may be made without the offer of an assistantship. We encourage interested students to contact individual faculty to learn more about specific research and funding opportunities.

Other financial aid requires submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Contact the Financial Aid Office at 208-426-1664 for availability of forms and deadlines.
