Accessibility in Online Courses Microcredential Overview

eCampus Center offers a microcredential that supports faculty to build accessible online courses and prepare for Title II requirements. Participants learn what accessibility looks like in everyday teaching, how to identify common barriers, and how to apply practical fixes directly to materials from their own courses.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the microcredential requirements, faculty will be able to:

  • Identify the requirements of WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
  • Describe the benefits of accessibility beyond compliance.
  • Identify accessibility issues that can arise in an online course.
  • Apply strategies to create or revise course materials that are accessible for all students.

Microcredential Requirements

Accessibility in Online Courses Microcredential requires the completion of the following:

  • The Importance of Online Accessibility webinar
  • Assessing and Improving Online Course Accessibility seminar
  • Microcredential Reflection Activity

All microcredential requirements are offered at least once a year. Check CampusGroups for upcoming offerings (please be logged in to access).

Enrolling, Tracking, and Completing Microcredentials

To enroll in this microcredential, go to the eCampus group Events page in CampusGroups (be sure to log in) and locate the Join Sub-Groups area on the right side of the page. Click the relevant checkbox for this microcredential to enroll in it. You can then view the requirements for the microcredential (as described above) by clicking on Home, then My Activity, then My Checklists.
