The Master of Education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) prepares educators to teach students who are non-native English speakers in schools where English is the language of instruction. The primary purpose of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is to teach students English, enabling them to succeed in schools where English is the language of instruction. TESOL is not designed to do the work of bilingual education, that is, teach all of the content subjects in a way that will maintain students at grade level. It is designed primarily to teach English by using vocabulary and structures commonly found in the content area classes.
