We offer four emphases for majoring with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English: English Teaching, Linguistics, Literature, and Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication.

Writing Center Internship

Join the Boise State Writing Center Team!

– Fall 2021 Internships –

The Boise State Writing Center is seeking applicants for its comprehensive internship program that prepares students to be writing consultants.

This internship experience leads to:

  • paid on-campus positions with flexible scheduling
  • writing and communication expertise valued in a wide variety of future settings
  • research support and participation in national and international conferences
  • opportunities for publication
  • leadership and service opportunities

Interns enroll in English 303: The Theory and Practice of Tutoring Writing while completing a one-credit internship in the Writing Center for on-the-job training.

Paying for School

Last year $30,000 in scholarships were given to English majors. Apply online through Financial Aid.

  • Apply by February 14.
  • 12 different scholarships available only for English majors.
  • One application will enter you in all the scholarships you are eligible for.
  • You may be qualified for Boise State scholarships – even if you haven’t qualified before. Apply!

First Year Writing

English 101 and 102 are university-level graduation requirements. All Boise State students are expected to complete these courses.
