We offer four emphases for majoring with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English: English Teaching, Linguistics, Literature, and Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication.

Paying for School

Last year $30,000 in scholarships were given to English majors. Apply online through Financial Aid.

  • Apply by February 14.
  • 12 different scholarships available only for English majors.
  • One application will enter you in all the scholarships you are eligible for.
  • You may be qualified for Boise State scholarships – even if you haven’t qualified before. Apply!

Teaching Assistantships:

  • Each year the English Department funds 17 Teaching Assistantships.
  • Students receive a tuition fee waiver, benefits, and a stipend of $10,450.
  • TA’s teach 3 classes during the year.
