The FarmPrES (Farmland Protection for Ecosystem Services) Project based out of Boise State University is a long-term, interdisciplinary research and stakeholder engagement effort to provide science support for proactive protection of agricultural land.
Our project focuses on conducting in-depth research in communities across Idaho in order to determine HOW to best protect agricultural lands, WHERE land protection should be prioritized to provide maximum societal benefits and the social and cultural conditions that shape farmland protection. This website is a resource for decision-makers, educators and people who care and wish to know more about farmland protection.

Our team
Boise State University has been conducting research on farmland protection since 2015, funded first through the Idaho EPSCoR MILES Project from 2016-2018 (NSF Award No. IIA-1301792), and then through several grants from the US Department of Agriculture. Our current team is funded through the USDA NIFA AFRI Foundational Program (09786, 2021).Â
