Valorant Team Introduces First Squad

By Maggie Borland

Excitement is on the horizon as the new 5v5 tactical shooter Valorant has taken the world by storm.
Colleges across the country are putting together rosters to compete with, so let’s talk about Boise State’s.

Blake “Lyccan” Ramsey: Blake is currently a freshman studying Computer Science who comes from a
long history of CSGO and tactical shooters. In high school he organized multiple tournaments and was
often the team captain for teams he played with. Blake has said he’s extremely excited to have a new
game and team that constantly leaves him wanting to improve.

Ethan “Bandito” Cobb: A Mathematics major local to Meridian, Idaho, Ethan spends his time doing one
of three things: playing video games, working at Dutch Bros, or hanging out with his girlfriend. The team
has affectionately nicknamed him the “dumptruck” because of his natural talent for frags.

Jack “So1dja” Wilcox: Another Computer Science student, Jack was on the Boise State CSGO team
before joining Valorant. One of the most dependable and grounded of the five, Jack is extremely
consistent in his ability to both hit shots and keep his cool during tough situations.

Luke “DreamMaker” Edwards: Luke is living the dream (sorry) as a grad student studying Economics
here at Boise State. He doesn’t have a long history of tactical shooters like the rest of these players, but
instead focused his time on Roblox and mobile games before Valorant came out. Luke had this to say
about his future with the team, “Though learning to play with a mouse and keyboard is really hard, I can’t
wait to see where this team takes me.”

Seth “urhat” Banta: The only senior on this squad, Seth will graduate next fall with a degree in
Computer Science. Last year’s captain of the Boise State CSGO team, he’s made the transition to
Valorant alongside his teammate Jack. On the team, Seth is known for screeching into his mic whenever
he joins a voice channel, never taking his finger off the left shift (walk) key, and always having a bed time
of 9pm. When we say always, we mean always. Oh, he also owns an adorable golden retriever with his
girlfriend Hailey.

These 5 students make up Boise State’s new competing Valorant roster. You can expect to see more of
them on the Boise State Twitch during the NACE and Conference1One leagues.
