Local Boisean Jenny “DayDream” Cummins looks to shine as new Overwatch player

Boise State Esports often recruits students from all across the nation. Students from as far as Maryland have joined the Bronco student body. However, Boise State will always be closely tied to the local community who proudly recognizes the grammatical reality that Boise is in fact spelled with and “s” and not a “z”. One new student who hails from Boise is Jenny “DayDream” Cummins who recently joined the Bronco Overwatch team.

Jenny has lived in Boise for over 16 years and considers it her true hometown. “I decided to join Boise State because I knew people here and wanted to stay close to home,” DayDream says. Some of her favorite activities around the Treasure Valley are going to see movies at The Flicks and walking around Boise’s various parks. “I love how much nature is in the city,” she says. Most classes she currently takes are online, so most of her time spent on campus is at the esports arena. “I love the energy and space that is dedicated to gaming and having fun!” she says.

Daydream started playing Overwatch in 2016 and started competitive play in 2020. She will be the first “Red Shirt” esports athlete, dedicating her first year of eligibility to perfecting her craft and will likely start games for the Broncos in Fall 2023.  Academically, she is looking to get a degree in Digital Innovation and Design. In terms of life goals, she shows a willingness to let life lead her wherever it may during college as long as it’s enjoyable. “I just want to be happy at the end of it,” she says.
