Visiting artist talk: Jennifer Chang Crandall
October 14 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm MDT
Visiting artist Jennifer Chang Crandall will be in conversation with Kirsten Furlong, gallery director, at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 14 in the Center for the Visual Arts, room 439. The event is free and seating is limited.
Crandall’s work crosses the disciplines of filmmaking, journalism, and art. Her documentary project, “Whitman, Alabama,” is currently showing in the Blue Galleries through Oct. 27.
“Whitman, Alabama” is an Emmy-nominated documentary project for which Crandall traveled around Alabama for two years inviting people to recite “Song of Myself” by Walt Whitman. What you hear is not just the words of the 19th-century poet, but voices of Alabamans speaking about themselves and about America’s past and present.
The event and exhibition are supported by the Boise State University School of the Arts and the Idaho Film Collection at Boise State.
Facial coverings are required at Boise State University spaces. Parking for visiting the Blue Galleries or attending the visiting artist talk is available at the Brady Garage on the corner of University Drive and Earle Street. The Center for the Visual Arts address is 1110 S. Capitol Blvd.
