How can we help?

Student Support

First-Year Math Course Placement

Student Support appointments give you one-on-one guidance to create a plan for academic success – whether it’s creating a success plan in your math course, navigating ALEKS, or addressing other challenges you would like to discuss.

Not sure if you’re in the right math course? Within the first two weeks of the semester, this appointment is used to review your ALEKS results and help determine any placement adjustments.

Tutor Interest and Tutoring Lab Questions

Third Attempt

This appointment is for questions about the tutoring lab or becoming a tutor. For information about utilizing free tutoring, visit our tutoring page.

This appointment is for students requesting a third attempt at a First-Year Math course to review past attempts, areas for improvement, and the approval process. This form must be filled out and signed by an academic advisor before meeting with a FYM staff member to have the form signed and sent to the Registrar’s office.

Parent Appointment

Early Final Initial Appointment

Parents are welcome to meet with the First-Year Math Director to discuss ways to support their child or share any concerns. You can reach the director at brinleystringer@boisestate.edu.
Please be aware that, due to FERPA, personal student data cannot be discussed the student has waived their FERPA rights through the Registrar’s office.

If you complete your ALEKS pie before Week 12 of the semester, and have reviewed syllabus information to see if you might qualify, you can schedule an appointment with a FYM staff member to see what next steps are.
