BGY is not a part of regular Boise State Admissions. If you have been awarded an academic scholarship and/or plan to utilize financial aid to cover your cost of attendance, please note, BGY is not a part of regular credit-bearing enrollment for the semester. Students should consult with Boise State Admissions and/or Financial Aid and Scholarships to determine the repercussions of changing their admittance status or semester.

With a program fee that is lower than tuition, Bronco Gap Year is affordable. We also offer scholarships and payment plans to make sure the program works with your budget.

Program Fee Options

You can choose to participate in Bronco Gap Year for one semester or two.

Fall + Spring

2-semester program

Program fee: $1,500

Program dates: August 29th – May 5th

Fall 2022

1-semester program

Program fee: $750

Program dates: August 29th – December 16th
Enrollment open
Late enrollment open until September 30th

Spring 2023

1-semester program

Program fee: $750

Program dates: January 16th – May 5th

Financial Information

Our flat-rate program fee allows you to earn credit at a significantly lower price than standard tuition costs. To pay your fee, you have two options:

You can pay the full program fee (for one semester or two) upfront by visiting the Boise State Marketplace.
Or, we can arrange a payment plan for you that breaks the program fee into 3 installments of $250 for each semester of the program. You’ll pay a $250 deposit before the program begins, then 2 more payments of $250 during the semester that you’re participating in. If you elect the payment plan for the full year, the same process will be true for the second semester.

We offer a limited number of scholarships, so we ask that you fill out a brief application form.

Fall 2022 scholarship deadline: August 20th by midnight

Scholarship priority will be given to students who demonstrate financial need OR scholarship priority will be given to students who demonstrate financial need by meeting one of the criteria listed below:

Student has received or is eligible to receive an ACT or SAT testing fee waiver.
Student is enrolled in or eligible to participate in the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program (FRPL).
Student’s annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.
Student is enrolled in a federal, state or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., TRIO programs such as Upward Bound).
Student’s family receives public assistance.
Student lives in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home or is homeless.
Student is a ward of the state or an orphan.
