AI for Research

AI and Research at Boise State: Pushing Boundaries

Boise State researchers are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge generative AI (GAI) tools, training the next generation of computer scientists to build these technologies with a strong ethical foundation, and applying GAI to address complex challenges across disciplines.

We actively engage with campus and external stakeholders to define the responsible and effective use of generative AI in research. Our efforts focus on practical applications and the development of institutional guidelines that promote ethical AI integration at Boise State University.

Supporting AI-related research is a strategic priority. This includes advancing high-performance computing capabilities, strengthening data management policies and practices, and expanding access to large language models (LLMs) through a flexible platform that empowers our campus community to explore, create, and interact with AI technologies.

The Generative AI Guidelines for Researchers Working Group invites you to join a community dedicated to discussing and shaping guidelines for researchers using generative AI tools.

Research Spotlight

Gundy Kaupins, professor in management, had his paper, “Artificial Intelligence and Human Abilities: Collaboration with Caution,” published in Choice, a publishing unit of the Association of College and Research Libraries.

Kaupins’ work takes a wide look at how artificial intelligence is reshaping industries.
