Your Right to Public Information
Everyone has a right to examine and take a copy of any University public record in accordance with Idaho’s Public Records Law. Boise State University complies with the Idaho Public Records Act and is committed to transparency while protecting privacy as required by law. All public records are available for inspection except as otherwise expressly provided by statute.
We begin to process requests for public records in the order they are received. We may follow up with you to narrow your request and/or send you an invoice for the estimated cost to fulfill your request.
There can be costs associated with gathering and reproducing records. Advance payment of the estimated costs may be required before we will resume processing your request. Unless we are waiting for you to pay an associated invoice, we will provide responsive records, if they exist, in whole or in part, and/or deny your request, in whole or in part, no later than ten (10) working days following your request if you are an Idaho resident, and no later than thirty-five (35) working days following your request if you are a nonresident.
Please see the Section titled Fee Schedule for further information regarding fees. If you have questions concerning the costs involved, please contact the Public Records Custodian prior to submitting your request.
If a request is made for an item that is not a “Public Record”, the Idaho Public Records Act may not be applicable. The Public Records Custodian works to ensure that all requests are screened and only “Public Records” are accessed.
Records released pursuant to this request are not warranted as to completeness or accuracy. The information provided represents the disclosable information pursuant to Idaho Code Title 74, Chapter 1 and University Policy 1040. Public Records Definitions
