Kami Wolfe Schneider, EdD, MS, CGC

Kami Wolfe Schneider, EdD, MS, CGC obtained a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Biology from the University of Michigan and a M.S. degree from the University of Cincinnati’s genetic counseling program. She obtained a doctoral degree in Leadership for Educational Equity in Higher Education in May 2024. She has more than 20 years of experience working as a clinical genetic counselor. She started as an adult cancer and prenatal genetic counselor in Memphis, TN for more than 4 years before joining the University of Colorado in the Clinical Genetics and Metabolism Section in 2009 where she worked in a variety of specialty, general genetics and metabolic clinics. While there, she initiated and developed Children’s Hospital Colorado’s first pediatric cancer genetic counseling clinic which began in March 2011 and now has 4 genetic counselors covering multiple hematology, oncology, bone marrow transplant, and specialty programs in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Kami has been working full time as a pediatric cancer genetic counselor since 2013 and was the founding chair of the NSGC’s pediatric cancer subcommittee of the Cancer special interest group. She has been involved nationally in many other roles including chairing the NSGC’s membership committee and professional status survey and serving on diversity and ethics task forces. She was a section editor on the editorial board for the Journal of Genetic Counseling and has volunteered on the genetic counseling advisory board for the Li-Fraumeni Syndrome Association. She has mentored and supervised many trainees, including serving on student research project committees from more than 5 different genetic counseling training programs. Kami is passionate about education, mentorship, research, psychosocial support, reducing health disparities, increasing diversity in the profession of genetic counseling, and advocacy. Outside of work, Kami enjoys playing sports, like soccer and inline hockey, solving puzzles, listening to music, and spending time with her 3 children and their dog. Kami is thrilled for the opportunity to contribute to the learning experiences of the students in the Boise State program.
