Merit Scholarships for International Undergraduate Applicants
As an international undergraduate applicant to Boise State, you’ll be automatically considered for merit-based scholarships ranging from $5,000 – $17,000 per year.
International student scholarships are made up of a combination of Non-Resident Scholarships–Ridgeline and Summit Scholarships–available to all Boise State applicants and Global Scholarships open only to international students.
FIRST-YEAR APPLICANTS
You are a first-year applicant if you hold fewer than 14 transferable post-secondary credits earned after high school.
First-year applicants can be considered for the following scholarships:
Ridgeline Scholarship: $5,000 per year
Summit Scholarship: $10,000 per year
Global Scholarship: $5,000 – $7,000 per year
TRANSFER APPLICANTS
You are a transfer applicant if you hold 14 or more transferable post-secondary credits earned after high school.
Transfer applicants are automatically considered for the following awards:
Ridgeline Transfer Scholarship: $5,000 per year
Summit Transfer Scholarship: $10,000 per year
Global Scholarship: $5,000 – $7,000 per year

In order to be considered for merit-based scholarships, all of your required application materials must be received by the following deadlines:
Spring 2026 Deadline: October 1, 2025
Fall 2026 Deadline: December 15, 2025

Non-Resident Scholarships are guaranteed to students who meet the eligibility criteria and deadlines. Global Scholarships are subject to availability and you are encouraged to complete your application for admission as early as possible for consideration.

Scholarship Eligibility Details
In order to be eligible for merit-based scholarship consideration, you must:
- Submit all required admissions materials by the posted deadline. This includes your application for admission, application fee, English proficiency test scores, transcripts, passport photo copy, and any other materials requested by the International Admissions Office.
- Apply to study in an eligible major. Ineligible majors include Nursing, Pre-Nursing, Radiological Science, Pre-Radiological Science, and self-supported and fully online programs.
- Be a first-time Boise State University undergraduate degree-seeking student. Exchange, second degree, non-degree, and Pathway Program students are ineligible for these awards.
- Have an unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.100 or above as calculated by the International Admissions Office or a NACES-member credential evaluation service.
- Be an Idaho Non-Resident for the purposes of tuition. Students who qualify for resident tuition are not eligible for these awards.
- Attend a school that is regionally accredited in the U.S. or an accredited school outside of the U.S.
Global Scholarships are subject to availability. While we typically have sufficient funding to award all students who qualify, in the event of low award availability, priority will be given to applicants in the order that their admissions application files were completed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Boise State offer fully funded scholarships for undergraduate students?
No fully funded scholarships are offered at this time. Undergraduate applicants may be considered for scholarships woth up to $17,000 per year.
Can I combine different scholarship awards?
Yes! When applying to Boise State before the scholarship deadline, you will automatically be considered for both Non-Resident Scholarships and Global Scholarships up to a total maximum amount of $17,000 per year.

Are scholarships renewable?
First-Year scholarships are renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) of study, or until you graduate, whichever comes first.
Transfer scholarships are renewable for two years (four semesters), or until you graduate, whichever comes first.
Does Boise State offer athletic scholarships?
Yes, there are athletic scholarships available at Boise State. Athletic scholarships are competitive and the recruiting and awarding process is handled by the Athletic Department and individual teams. For more information, please contact Boise State Athletics.
How will I know if I’ve been offered a scholarship?
Students offered scholarships will be notified in their admission letter. More information will follow from the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office sent to your Boise State student email address.
Can external scholarships be applied to the cost of attendance at Boise State?
Yes! If you receive a scholarship through an outside organization, you may use that to reduce the cost of attendance. We encourage all students to explore outside funding options.
