The Global Scholars Academic is open to faculty members and those affiliated with a university outside the U.S.
English Proficiency & Academics
You must show an appropriate level of English proficiency in order to participate in your research, the Academy, and day-to-day life in the United States. You will need to show a minimum TOEFL (internet) score of 68 or an IELTS score of 6.0 that is less than two years old. If scores are not available then a video interview conducted in English will determine proficiency.
You must have at least the equivalent of a US bachelor’s degree to participate in the Academy, although most participants will have at least a master’s degree.
Funding & Visa
You must have a valid passport and be eligible for the J-1 exchange visitor visa. The J-1 visa also requires that you show you have the funds for your stay in the US.
You must have research objectives that can be explored at Boise State University.
To apply, please fill out the online form here: Global Scholars Academy Application form. You will be asked to upload a current CV/résumé and your English test score if you have one.
