Yong Gao, PhD
Professor, School of Kinesiology
Yong Gao, PhD, is an expert in biostatistics and measurement within the fields of exercise science, applied health, and sports performance. Her work focuses on the quantitative evaluation of health behaviors and outcomes, physical activity, and athletic performance. Dr. Gao’s research integrates advanced statistical methodologies and the application of technology such as wearable devices with practical applications in exercise science, public health, and sports performance. Her work places particular emphasis on women’s athletic development, concussion research, culturally sensitive measurement, and community-based physical activity and health promotion. Through her leadership roles and extensive interdisciplinary collaborations, Dr. Gao contributes both methodologically and substantively to the advancement of exercise science, health behavior research, and sport analytics.

Laura Bond
Associate Research Professor, Biomolecular Research Institute
Laura Bond is currently the Bioinformatics Coordinator for the Biomedical Research Institute, a Statistical Consultant, and an Assistant Research Professor. Ms. Bond has experience applying diverse statistical methods across disciplines and has collaborated on a number of publications with a variety of departments on campus besides the BRC, including the Raptor Research Center and the Department of Kinesiology. Her expertise includes study design, data analysis, generalized and linear hierarchical mixed modeling, differential expression analysis, causal analysis and confounder control in retrospective (records-based) studies, and some Bayesian methodology.
