A recent international trip by School of Allied Health Sciences faculty members has yielded significant advancements in global partnerships and academic influence. The visit, which took place from September 9th to September 13th, focused on presenting cutting-edge research and enhancing foreign exchange opportunities for students and faculty.
The delegation included Professor Bob Wood and Demi Hoff.
A major focus of the trip was Professor Wood’s role as a featured keynote speaker at the prestigious Health Expo 2025. Professor Wood was among a select group of six keynote speakers and held the distinction of being the only representative from the United States.
His presentation, delivered entirely in Spanish over three days, centered on the profound benefits of Tai Chi on aging individuals. This exceptional display of expertise and cross-cultural communication successfully highlighted the university’s commitment to global health education.

The trip also served as a collaborative function: strengthening relations with international counterparts. Throughout this experience they visited several key institutions, including:
- Universidad de Santo Tomás
- Arendina
- House of Fitness
The effort to forge and deepen these partnerships is integral to the university’s mission to provide diverse, globally-minded experiences for students and faculty members. Boise State University has current developments with Universidad de Santo Tomás to establish concrete exchange opportunities to further research and international relationships.
The final day of the trip included valuable time for cultural immersion and tourist activities before the team returned, having successfully achieved the trip’s twofold purpose: showcasing Professor Wood’s research and solidifying vital international collaborations.
