Matt Niece, PhD, LCPC (he/him)
Executive Director
Dr. Matt Niece leads Health Services’ multidisciplinary team of professionals dedicated to supporting the health, wellbeing, and success of students and the broader campus community. In this role, Dr. Niece focuses on fostering collaboration across clinical, wellness, and prevention services, and on building an inclusive, compassionate approach to student care and community wellbeing. Dr. Niece earned his doctorate in Counselor Education and Counseling from Idaho State University. His background includes years of service in both university and community settings, where he has worked as a clinician, educator, and leader. Before returning to Boise State, he supported individuals and families across the Treasure Valley through his counseling work and leadership in various health organizations. He has also taught as an adjunct faculty member at Boise State University, College of Idaho, College of Western Idaho, and Idaho State University. Outside of work, Matt enjoys exploring Idaho’s great outdoors, tackling home renovation projects, and traveling with friends and family.

Brette Stephenson, PhD, LCPC (she/her)
Counseling Director
Dr. Brette Stephenson serves as the Director of Counseling Services. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Boise State University and previously attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she earned her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her current work focuses on advocacy for college student mental health, and she is committed to a collaborative approach that supports and enhances students’ access to resources that promote mental health and wellbeing, working closely with campus and community partners to foster a supportive environment for students. Brette also works with individuals experiencing personal and career transitions, depression, anxiety, grief, serious mental illness, and cultural concerns. Brette is an LGBTQ-affirming counselor, and her approach emphasizes the therapeutic alliance between client and counselor, focusing on awareness, acceptance, and growth. Prior to joining Boise State University, she worked in community-based mental health and private practice settings. She serves as an adjunct instructor for the Counselor Education Department at Boise State University. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, hiking, and running.

Rochelle Wolfe, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Wolfe graduated with high honors with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Montana in 1998. She then went on to complete her medical degree at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. She joined the Montana Family Medicine Residency program in Billings, MT, where she completed her residency training and served as Chief Resident. Dr. Wolfe then joined the United States Air Force, where she served as an active duty physician at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, MT. After leaving active duty, she then joined a multispecialty clinic in Missoula, MT, where she practiced for five years. Dr. Wolfe joined University Health Services in September of 2013 where her interests include general and procedural medicine, including skin biopsies and lesion removal, toenail removals, and IUD (intrauterine device) placement. In her free time, Dr. Wolfe enjoys spending time with her family and traveling, as well as participating in and watching a variety of different sports.

Zoë Segnitz
Wellness Director
Zoë is a passionate community builder and educator who has spent her career in higher education exploring student needs and showing up as their advocate. She brings diverse experience across Academic Advising, Athletics, Housing and Residence Life, New Student Orientation, and Parent and Family Engagement. Her work has taught her that we serve students best when we also deliberately serve one another, making her a collaborative leader who fosters strong faculty and staff connections in support of student success.
As Director of Wellness Services, Zoë focuses on aligning wellness initiatives with the university’s strategic priorities, creating environments where it’s easier for students to learn how to be well so they can do well. She holds a B.A. in Art from Davidson College and an M.A. in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. Outside of work, Zoë loves toiling and playing in the garden, the kitchen, through her writing, and with her friends and family.

Carmen Kaufhardt
Customer Service Representative Supervisor
Carmen supervises the CSR team at the front desk. She joined the Health Services team in April 2023. She is an experienced healthcare leader that has worked in the field for 28 years. She enjoys working with people and one of her favorite parts of her job is helping patients. Outside of work, Carmen enjoys reading, traveling and spending quality time with family and friends.

Julie Zamzow, BSN, RN
Nursing Supervisor
Julie received her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science at Southern Oregon University in 2014, followed by her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing through Denver College of Nursing in 2017. Julie has experience in hematology, oncology, medical/surgical, and post anesthesia care. Julie was born and raised in Boise, and looks forward to giving back to the Bronco community. Julie enjoys building relationships with patients while advocating for health and wellness. Outside work, Julie likes to do anything outdoors, play soccer, be with family and friends, enjoy good food and hang out with her husband and dog.
