About

I grew up around all the varied biomes of California, fascinated by foothill forest, coastal scrub, and urban ecosystems playing out all of their intricate drama. I went to school to learn how to better serve the people and wildlife around me, and I am thrilled to be carrying out the work I have passion for in the hills and forests of Idaho.

I am interested in human-wildlife systems, areas where humans overlap in activity with wildlife in both space and time. Wild carnivore depredation of livestock is a challenging and multifaceted issue facing these systems. Often where pastoral industry meets wildlife frontier there is conflict- my work seeks to mitigate this and promote coexistence.

My research seeks to explore how we can leverage ecological analyses to promote human-wildlife coexistence and how we can involve and collaborate with system stakeholders in these efforts. I collect fine-scale spatiotemporal data of wildlife behavior and habitat-use and use these to develop applied models for creating coexistence. However, the challenges to overcome in these systems belong to all of their participants: rigorous analyses are only as useful as the informed and decision-mediated action of the stakeholders that inhabit the system.

Currently, I am analyzing a multiseason and multispecies wildlife survey performed in Central Idaho where sheep ranchers annually graze on public land.
