What talents, values, and interests are necessary for ethical leadership in a constantly evolving world? In this course, we will examine different ethical perspectives on leading change, beginning with the seven C’s of the Social Change Model, which ask leaders to understand their own values, act consistently with them, work effectively with others, communicate a shared vision, commit to that vision, and manage conflict constructively. As we consider what makes a good leader, you will reflect on your own strengths and weaknesses and how you can prepare to mobilize and work with others. PREREQ: ENGL 102, UF 100, and sophomore status.

HONORS 392-4001 Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift and her lyrics have captured the imagination of millions of people. Our course will examine her life, lyrics, and music as a mirror to twenty-first century American culture.

HONORS 392-4002 America Through Classic Rock

America in the 1970s reportedly laid the foundation for Modern America. This course will look at the changes in the 1970s through the lens of six Rock albums. Not only will we study the lyrics and music of these albums, we will also watch fascinating documentaries on the musicians and the making of each album.

HONORS 392-4003 Power & Challenge of Podcasts

Class # 40933 | ONLINE | ONLINE (1st) 7-week course | Jacob Andrysiak

This course explores the growing content generation field of podcasting. In this course, we will explore the components that go into creating an effective podcast, practice using different podcasting tools, and create a 3-episode podcast mini-series on a topic of your choice. Through forum discussions, reflective writing, and peer feedback, we will explore the power of content generation and the challenges we face during the creative process.

HONORS 392-4004 Exploring Japan through Historical Fiction

Class # 41042 | ONLINE | ONLINE (2nd) 3-week course | Shelton Woods

This class will study Japan’s history through the means of a beautifully written historical fiction novel, “Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.” Students will enjoy a fascinating journey through Japan’s past through historical fiction taught by a historian of Japanese history. In addition to the readings, you will have presentations on Japan’s history, with an emphasis on Japan between 1600 and 1945.
