Countdown to Open Enrollment
Open enrollment is an annual opportunity for benefit-eligible employees to select benefits that best meet their needs, and those of their families. The enrollment period runs from Monday, April 27, to Friday, May 15, 2026. Elections are in effect July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, unless a qualifying life event occurs.
Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is the time each year when benefit-eligible employees can enroll in or change their benefit elections for the upcoming plan year. Outside of this period, changes are only permitted if you experience a qualifying life event.
The 2026 Open Enrollment period will be from April 27, 2026 to May 15, 2026. Any changes that are made during this time will be effective at the beginning of the new plan year, July 1, 2026.
During Open Enrollment, benefit-eligible employees can do the following in Bronco Hub:
- Enroll in or make changes to your medical insurance
- Enroll in or make changes to your dental insurance
- Enroll in or make changes to a health savings account (HSA)
- Enroll or re-enroll in a flexible spending account (FSA)
Benefit-eligible employees are also able to:
- Enroll or un-enroll in ARAG Legal Insurance
- Enroll or un-enroll in Long Term Care Insurance
Boise State has a passive open enrollment, meaning your current coverage will automatically roll over into the new plan year without requiring you to take any action. Please note that this does not apply to FSAs. If you would like to participate in an FSA for the upcoming plan year, action is required, and you do need to enroll in Bronco Hub.

Open Enrollment Tasks
Open enrollment is an annual time to check in on your benefit elections. The Office of Human Resources and Workforce Strategy encourages all benefit-eligible employees to complete a Benefits Check-Up.
Key items include:
- Understand plan and premium changes
- Review your medical and dental plan elections
- Decide on FY27 FSA Enrollment
- Verify your mailing address in Bronco Hub (Job Aid)
Instructions to Change Benefit Elections
To change your benefit elections, review the following steps based on the type of benefit you would like to update. Some benefits are managed in Bronco Hub, while others require you to enroll directly through the provider.
- Medical, Dental, HSA, and FSA: Make your elections in Bronco Hub. Review the Benefits Elections Checklist and Guide (once posted) before enrolling, and use the Job Aid for step-by-step instructions. Elections must be completed no later than Friday, May 15, 2026.
- ARAG Legal Insurance: Enroll or unenroll directly through the ARAG website.
- Long Term Care Insurance: Enroll or make changes through the long term care insurance website.

- Open Enrollment Event: Take advantage of our annual Open Enrollment event to meet with benefits vendors, compare plan options, and get answers to your questions. The HR Benefits team will also be on-site to answer questions.

- Walk-In Hours: Drop by for help with Open Enrollment questions or the Bronco Hub enrollment process. Limited computers will be available; please bring your own laptop if possible.
